Zone Dance Academy topped off a successful 2011 with a huge celebration show -- so big that five performances had to be staged at Pataka's dance studio instead of the usual four. All of the shows sold out in the first two weeks of ticket sales, says academy principal Kylie Weldon. Our show included every class from our dance school showcasing a variety of styles from classical ballet, modern jazz, American tap, hip-hop, cheerleading, contemporary, vocals and our new glee club.'' Performers ranged in age from two-and-a-half to 40. Audiences enjoyed items such as 42nd St, Peter Pan and Swan Lake. The end of year show brings the classes together, lifts the standards for performers and lets parents to see their kids improve from year to year, she says. 2012 is going to be another big year for Zone Dance, she says. A new studio space will be opened at the Elsdon venue, while lyri- cal, Pilates for dancers and adults, musical theatre and drama will be added to an already bustling timetable.
