Number 19 Bay Dr and its future is still being discussed in publicly-excluded business by Porirua City councillors, following the successful tender from the council in April. The cost of the purchase is unknown, although it is understood PCC paid more than the rateable value of $1.225 million for the 7200-square-metre site that has 100 metres of beachfront. Mr Leggett says when the time comes to decide its use, they will seek public comment. Mr Leggett says attracting visitors to Porirua and creating the best experience possible in that space are the key outcomes. Help after theft First Five Early Childhood Centre can hold barbecues again. After Kapi-Mana News reported on May 22 that the centre, based in the old Porirua Hospital grounds, had been burgled and its new barbecue stolen, the offers of replacements were immediate. Bunnings Warehouse delivered a new barbecue and accessories after the article was in the paper, centre supervisor Jenni Mason said. A business in Lower Hutt and another Porirua resident rang to offer barbecues. First Security in Tawa will now do nightly patrols. The new barbecue will be kept off-site.
