SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! 4885892AA Having a ball: The ABC4KIDS session provides rugby skills training in a fun environment. All Blacks camp for young players If your child wants to have the silky skills of an international rugby player then the All Blacks Camp for Kids (ABC4KIDs) is the perfect place to start. The camp is a New Zealand Rugby Union initiative where children build their foundation and fundamental skills and are introduced to a rugby experience. Small Blacks TV show personality Nua Finau is running the first ABC4KIDs holiday programme for Porirua, Tawa and Johsonville at Tawa Rugby Club on Monday, October 8, from 9am till noon for boys and girls aged seven to nine. It's aimed at kids who want to improve their skills in a fun environment and make new friends. But get in quick and register because numbers are limited. Holiday fun for kids Kid-friendly: Pataka will be bursting with fun activities and attractions for children to explore during the holidays. Pataka is offering an extensive programme to educate and entertain children in the October school holidays. Here's a rundown on the daily events sure to pique young ones' curiosity: Triangles in Action Come and get all angular, exploring Peter Trevelyan's sculpture. Explore triangles, and create a hanging polyhedron sculpture and a gallery installation. This workshop will be heaps of fun for kids who like constructing and making. Tuesday, October 2, 1pm till 2.30pm. Tape, Shapes and Casting Create an amazing bird out of paper and tape. Do a spot of drawing and then sculpting. Kids will have their very own bird to take home and fly. There will also be cool things to do with plaster. Wednesday, October 3, 10am till 11.30am, and 1pm till 2.30pm. Flying Birds Fly into Pataka for some bird making, inspired by glass work made by The Crystal Chain Gang, and the wonderful tui and fantail that are flying on the gallery wall. Snow White with a twist Animal antics: Snow White receives some furry good help in KidzStuff Theatre's upcoming production. Snow White has rarely been this colourful. KidzStuff Theatre for Children has woven another entertaining adaptation of a classic fairytale for the school holidays. Snow White is rescued from the wicked queen's evil plan by a mole and a beaver who worked with the seven dwarfs on The Hobbit. The dwarfs have taken off to seek fame and fortune, leaving Snow White and her new friends to devise a plan to save the animals. Author Rachel Henry is a Wellington actor and director who has written several shows for KidzStuff Theatre, including Cinderella, Thumbelina, Rumpelstiltskin and, most recently, Little Red Riding Hood. Director Sarah Delahunty has written and directed several KidzStuff plays, including The Gingerbread Man, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White and Rose Red. The cast includes Caleb Jago-Ward, most recently the lead male Link Larkin in Wellington Musical Theatre's production of Hairspray, Brittany Wallis, who also starred in Hairspray, Rebecca Parker and Alice Pearce. A special preview of Snow White is being staged this Saturday, September 29, tickets $7. The play then runs until October 13, with two performances Monday to Friday , 11am and 1pm, and Saturdays at 11am. No Sunday shows. Tickets $10 with group concessions available.
