Ms Muir, 72, wanted to find good homes for her lifetime's worth of art- works when she organised the Sept- ember 8 and 9 exhibition and sale. She sold 41 out of 53 paintings and embroidery pieces, says Mary Potter Hospice volunteer services manager Alison Crafar. Nineteen Mary Potter volunteers helped put the exhibition together. Ms Muir was already very unwell during the exhibition, but managed to make an appearance at its open- ing ceremony, Ms Crafar says. It was exactly what she had hoped for,'' she says. She passed away four days later. We all believe that she waited for her exhibition.'' Ms Muir's exhibition visit in poor health showed how much it meant to her, Ms Muir's son Eliot says. The exhibition was the most successful one in my mother's career. It achieved the goal of finding good homes for so much of Mum's material -- it would have been quite a problem to know what to do with her artwork without this.'' Seminar for migrants Settlement Support New Zealand is running a free seminar on recognis- ing international qualifications this Thursday. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority will present the infor- mation in the Helen Smith Community Room in Pataka from 2pm till 3.30pm. There is no cost to attend. Attendees will learn about quali- fications assessments for those mov- ing to New Zealand, what is required for work or further study purposes if in New Zealand already, and there will be a chance to ask about the qualification recognition process. Employers, recruiters and organis- ations who sponsor, support and work with skilled migrants are welcome to attend. For more information please contact email@example.com or call the Settlement Support co-ordinator Annette Woods on 237 3578.
