Holistic time-out TODDLER IN TOW KELLY ETEVENEAUX A QUICK SNACK AT DUCK CREEK CAFE, PAUATAHANUI Highchairs: Yes Changing facilities: Yes, in the disability toilet Kids' menu: Yes We were impressed when we popped in for a coffee and a bowl of fries at Duck Creek one Sunday recently. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were offered a highchair straight away and they brought out a children's menu with activity sheet and pens for Bailey, which kept him entertained. Our order came out quickly, and Bailey's drink came in a plastic cup so I didn't spend my meal worrying he was going to break a glass. Duck Creek's back deck looks out to the Pauatahanui Inlet and surrounding hills. There is a large grassy area which Bailey enjoyed running around on and exploring. I am told they also have some toys for the kids to enjoy outside. The menu looked delicious so we will definitely be venturing back for a proper lunch or dinner. It would be a great spot to meet up with another family for lunch one sunny weekend, when the kids can take full advantage of the outdoor space. Great outdoors: Duck Creek Cafe is very child-friendly, with heaps of outside space for the little ones to run around on a fine day. I was very lucky recently to be treated to one of Holistic Health s Yummy Mummy treatments. The treatment for mums with littlies is new and they are offering it at the very affordable price of $30. It includes a 20-minute upper back, neck, shoulders and scalp massage and best of all: childcare! I felt very comfortable handing the boys over to their lovely nanny, who very quickly had Bailey, 4, involved in a game with the toys in an adjacent room to where I had the treatment. Ollie, 1, is unfortunately going through that delightful clingy, you re not my mummy so I will scream at you stage and ended up playing with some toys in the room with me. I still thoroughly enjoyed my massage, which Lynda was able to do with me sitting in the chair with Ollie at my feet. The Indian head massage was incredible and I am very keen to book my husband in to one of the classes they hold to learn how to do it! I also highly recommend the hot stone massage they offer. It is amazing and leaves you feeling so relaxed. I found Lynda and her team to be very warm and friendly. They are incredibly passionate about health and offer a range of services, classes and events to benefit the health and wellbeing of the whole family. They offer great pregnancy treatments, including massage and acupuncture, and regular ladies nights which include cana- pes, wine, guest speakers and massages. Holistic Health is located next to the Playcentre Shop at 73 Kenepuru Drive. For more on child-friendly cafes, activities and services see www.toddlerintow.co.nz.
