29 KAPI-MANA NEWS, MARCH 26, 2013 5219487AA Whitby Village Development ADVERTORIAL Work has begun on a new building, a purpose-built bar and restaurant. Blair Double, a member of the mall's ownership company DFT Holdings, says it will have prime position facing the bottom lake. The site has been leased to the owner-operator of The Trading Post in Khandallah, Monteith's bar in Paraparaumu and Gas Works bar and restaurant in Miramar. They are looking to provide great atmosphere and food. Part of the main mall building will receive a major upgrade and refit. Further work will be undertaken in Stage 2. Professionals Real Estate and the hairdresser, Cut 'n Curl, will relocate to new tenancies currently being built at the south end of the mall while Whitby Seafoods will remain in the same spot. New tenant, Plimmerton Taj, Indian restaurant, will open their second premise while the existing Pharmacy is enlarging taking over the old hairdresser's space, and Whitby Doctors Medical Centre is doubling in size to cater for future growth in Whitby. Two new tenancies coming to the shopping centre are Rappaw Veterinary Practice, which will be opening a branch clinic of Rappaw Paremata Clinic that will be for consults and retail. The other tenant is Domino's Pizza which have been looking for a suitable site in Whitby for a while now, so were very pleased to secure their new tenancy and they are promising a whole new design concept for the new store. New signage, upgraded public toilets, extra car parking, new hard landscaping and lighting will also feature. There is one new tenancy still available to lease, approximately 97m2 that would suit either retail or a business, so call Blair on 021 431 644 if this could be of interest. Mr Double says it is fantastic to see construction underway with the project to be completed by August. "This is something that has been planned for about three years, with the shopping centre being around since 1978 so it has been in need of an upgrade." "When (the expansion) is completed, it's going to be something that's modern and will be attractive to visit with a good range of tenancies." DFT Holdings are pleased to announce the start of Stage 1 of the Whitby Mall redevelopment.
