• What support can help stop you and your children needing to go to hospital for
preventable illness? (like skin conditions, dental care, asthma and heart care)

Drinking water standards compliance
As part of compliance with the Drinking-water Standards for New Zealand
2008, the Ministry of Health requires water suppliers to publish the
Ministry of Health -- Public Notice
Some plumbing fittings have the potential to allow minute traces
of metals to accumulate in water standing in the fittings for several
hours. Although the health risk is small, the Ministry of Health
recommends that you flush a mugful of water from your drinking-
water tap each morning before use to remove any metals that may
have dissolved from the plumbing fittings. We are recommending
this simple precaution for all households, including those on public
and private water supplies.
This notice is placed by Porirua City Council, with respect to the reticulated
water supplied to its consumers.
For further information about the health implications of this advice,
contact the Drinking Water Assessment Unit of the Wellington Regional
Public Health Service, telephone 04 570 9002.
An exciting opportunity to influence and shape the beauty of Porirua City.
Keep Porirua Beautiful Trust (KPBT) is seeking at least five (5) board members to
drive and shape the visual beauty of Porirua City. KPBT aims include reducing litter
and carrying out beautification activities that enhance the physical environment of
Porirua City. KPBT works with local residents and community partners to care for
the local environment, foster positive attitudes towards the appearance of the city
and carry out beautification projects to reduce visual pollution.
Desired attributes for board members are a willingness to work with local partners
in achieving projects, get their hands dirty for a good cause and have an ability to
engage with residents on environmental and pollution issues. An understanding of
board governance is advantageous, but not essential.
Application forms are available from the Porirua City Council website at
www.pcc.govt.nz or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. For further enquiries
please contact Sharli-Jo Solomon on 027 6777 500.
